چکیده

This paper describes a fast harmonic estimation, referred to Delta Adjustment (DA), using a low resolution pitch. The presented DA method is based on modification of the Generalized Dual Excitation (GDE) technique [1] which was proposed to improve speech enhancement performance. We introduce the GDE technique and modify it to be suitable for low bit rate harmonic coding that uses only an integer pitch estimate. Unlike the GDE, the DA matches a frequencywarped version of the original spectrum that conforms to a fixed pitch at all harmonic bands. In addition, complexity and performance of the presented method are described in comparison with those of the conventional Fractional Pitch (FP) based harmonic estimation. Experimental results showed that the DA algorithm significantly reduces the complexity of the FP method while maintaining the performance.

Polynomial quasi-harmonic models for speech analysis and synthesis

Harmonic plus noise models have been successfully applied to a broad range of speech processing applications, including, among others, low bit-rate speech coding, and speech restoration and transformation. In conventional methods, the frequencies, the relative phases and the amplitudes of the pitch-harmonic components are assumed to be piecewise constants over an analysis frame. This assumption...

A Novel Voicing Cut - off Det for Low Bit - Rate Harmonic

Generally, phonetic classification for low rate speech coding is restricted to either a simple binary voiced/unvoiced classification of entire speech frames, or alternatively, a more complicated estimation of the voicing for a set of frequency bands. A good compromise between these two techniques is estimation of a single cut-off frequency that separates the spectrum into voiced (below) and unv...

Frequency-domain spectral envelope estimation for low rate coding of speech

Estimation of spectral envelope in frequency domain allows to avoid some problems of the Linear Prediction (LP) algorithms for voiced speech. We present a low complexity method of spectral envelope estimation from harmonics for low rate coding. The method consists in computing harmonic amplitude spectrum using pitch-synchronous DFT with length depending on voicing, modifying this spectrum outsi...

Analysis-by-synthesis low-rate multimode harmonic speech coding

This paper presents an analysis-by-synthesis multimode harmonic coder (AbS-MHC) that employs new techniques to improve both the speech model accuracy and the parameter estimation robustness in the low rate harmonic coding framework. To improve the speech model accuracy, an enhanced frequency domain transition model is used in conjunction with the sinusoidal model based harmonic coding of voiced...

Efficient harmonic-CELP based hybrid coding of speech at low bit rates

This paper presents an efficient Harmonic-CELP hybrid coder at 2.4 kbps utilizing the well-known characteristics of the Harmonic and CELP coders. According to frame voicing decision, the proposed hybrid coder switches the RP-VSELP coder as a fast CELP in case of unvoiced, or an improved Harmonic coder in case of voiced. The proposed Harmonic-CELP hybrid coder has several features as follows: fa...
